System Errors: HP DesignJet 5000 and 5500
 

As part of our ongoing commitment to providing excellent service our techs have been gathering information on error codes for the HP DesignJet 5000 and 5500. These error codes do not appear in the HP documentation.

Some of these errors have suggested fixes…they are not guaranteed to work. Division has not given us a solution for them and we are going off of what we have gathered. If you are having continued difficulty please call Digital Media Warehouse: Tech support at 1-800-576-8182. Incorrect Tube System Switch Power off, Check colored flat cable, ISS PCA or Tube System (Dye or UV inks)
Ink System Error - 0616 ?
INK SYSTEM ERRORS XXXX Refer to Service Manual (Pages 3-12 to 3-18) XX0x replace or reseat
Media Loaded incorrectly Message appears if media detector has seen paper but the line sensor hasn't seen the leading edge or found it in the incorrect location. Sensor could also be bad
No Profiles on Printer Upgrade firmware (Check communication - New parallel cable, Swap JetDirect Slots)
Power Supply Error #1 ?
Printer does not cut Check for latest Firmware (A.02.05 or later). Print IQ plot or check cutter actuator arm for damage. Encoder Strip could also be dirty
Printer unloads paper During paper loading, Window is lifted. Must power cycle printer to continue. 
Recovering Y printhead Upgrade Firmware to A.02.08 or later to allow for proper Yellow Printhead recovery process
Slow Printing Refer to Service manual
slow printing  if queue is getting full  Firmware Code Rev. A.02.08 will solve the slow printing bug and also another bug that creates some small undesired lines all along the Printouts intermittently.
Slow Printing W/3rd Party RIP Pallette = Factory should be Factory = Software if using a 3rd Party RIP
Spinning Up Disk error Hard Drive error. Power Cycle and then replace hard drive if error persists. (Can also be a power supply issue)
System Error (2320) RECOVER Upgrade to the Latest Firmware (A.02.08 or Greater)

System Error 010092 (continuable) Mark Encoder detected on Roller. Replace lens cover, Clean Mark Encoder w/Drive Roller Utility(Service Station Calibration)
System Error 011000 NIB Crash. Power Cycle with the Power Switch on the back of the Printer

System Error 0A0030 Problem in Depressurizing Air System. Check APS & Cartridges for signs of any ink. At any signs of ink leakage - replace Tubes and Cartridges.
System Error 0A0040 APS Failure. Check all cables, APS Tubes & Air Tubes from APS. Replace 1 Cart., Replace APS Last.
System Error 0A0050 (non- continue) Printer has detected leak before life of system is up. Check for ink in the Ink Leak Detector, Condensation build up in the printer. Switch power off and allow printer to dry for 15 minutes. Then Power Printer on and replace tubes and ISS PCA.
System Error 0A0060 (non-continue) Leak Detected in Tube System after life of System - Replace Tube System.
System Error 0A0070 (continuable) Backup EEROM contents are not consistent with Hard Drive Firmware. Perform Backup EEROM & with all calibrations and perform EEROM Setup.
System Error 0B0000 Bad Ambient Temperature measured. Temp should be between 0 & 55 degrees. Replace Main PCA.
System Error 0B0002 Bad IDS pressure read. Refer to page 2-15 in the Service Manual
System Error 0B0003 ADCO Internal Channels check failure. (replace ISS PCA rather than Main PCA as service Manual Suggests. Refer to Postsales April News Letter. Not the Service Manual.
System Error 0B0004 APS Failure. Check all cables, APS Tubes & Air Tubes from APS. Replace 1 Cart., Replace APS Last.

System Error 0C0040 xxxxxxxx Same nozzles do not work on all printheads. Causes-Fibers on printheads, blocked Drop Detector or could be Scan Axis could be wrong.
System Error 0C00FF Print Mask could not be generated. Reboot, Isolate, Check for XX21, replace printhead. Run nozzle check
System Error 0C1000 Primer not calibrated or calibration settings have been lost.

Unable to print using UV Inks Dye prints fine, problem in UV and using RIP software. RIP needs to differentiate between UV & Dye.
